    Takao operates a 'just-in-time' production system. Following further expansion in the parts volumes of this major pressed parts manufacturer, a programme to support the learning development of the Shift Coordinators and Team Leaders was planned by Matthew Hunter Associates with the senior management team.

    The key objectives were to enhance the team leading skills in the Weld Area, and to provide them with specific skills to help them deal with the day to day needs of this rapidly growing company.
    Daily team meetings, the development of team KPIs, visual management systems and ‘soft’ skills training were essential parts of the programme.
    The programme helped to support the reduction in downtime, defects, and improved the motivation of the teams in the Weld Area.

    Takao Europe manufactures press and weld parts for major car manufacturers, most notably Honda and Toyota.
